Se parte de la necesidad de superar las dificultades de los estudiantes en la identificación y resolución de problemas, aplicando metodologías activas con actividades lúdicas y dinámicas que promueven el pensamiento crítico, la creatividad y la colaboración. La investigación se fundamenta en Piaget (1972), quien sostiene que el conocimiento se construye a partir de la interacción con el entorno; Gardner (1995), al reconocer la inteligencia visoespacial como un componente esencial del aprendizaje; Maeda (2013), quien destaca la integración del arte en el enfoque STEAM; y el Ministerio de Educación Nacional (2006), que orienta el desarrollo de competencias para la formación integral. Desde estos referentes, el estudio abordó las dificultades relacionadas con la organización espacial y su incidencia en los procesos de lectura y escritura. Bajo un enfoque cualitativo, se emplearon técnicas como la observación y la evaluación diagnóstica, apoyadas en una rúbrica cualitativa para analizar los procesos de aprendizaje. Los resultados evidenciaron avances en la orientación espacial, la organización de elementos en las producciones escritas y el desempeño en matemáticas y ciencias. Asimismo, se constató que la metodología STEAM favorece la creatividad, el pensamiento crítico, el trabajo colaborativo, la autonomía y la motivación, consolidándose como una estrategia pedagógica que fortalece aprendizajes profundos y significativos mediante la innovación y la integración de saberes.
